My sister recently purchases a new Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop with Windows Vista Basic. Like the good brother I am, I thought I would save her a few hundred bucks by installing OpenOffice.org instead of MS Office. This was actually my first experience with Windows Vista, so I didn’t know what to expect.
Windows Vista doesn’t like me and doesn’t trust my software.
When I try to install OpenOffice.org on Vista I get the following NSIS error
“The installer you are trying to download is corrupted or incomplete.
This could be the result of damaged disk or failed download or a virus. You may want to contact the author of the installer to obtain a new copy. It maybe possible to skip this check using NCRC command line switch. (NOT RECOMMENDED)”
Apparently this is just a problem with the embedded JRE version of OpenOffice.org 2.21. If you download the JRE seperatly from Sun (Click Here) and OpenOffice.org without the JRE (Click Here), everything installs just fine. At least for me.
